Miley Cyrus remains mum on parents' divorce as 'Hannah Montana' nears end

Miley Cyrus
is keeping mum on her parents Billy Ray's and Tish's divorce proceedings, as her Disney Channel show Hannah Montana, which launched her career, nears its end after four seasons.

Meanwhile, talk show hosts Jay Leno and Phil McGraw are set to appear on an upcoming Hannah Montana episode on November 7.

Leno and McGraw will play themselves on the episode, titled "I'll Always Remember You". Hannah Montana contemplates removing her blonde wig and revealing she's really Miley Stewart on The Tonight Show, which Leno hosts, after her boyfriend Jesse begins to grow tired of pretending to date her alter-ego, international pop star Hannah Montana.

The Disney Channel has not confirmed the date of the Hannah Montana series finale but a spokesperson said it would air in 2011.

Billy Ray Cyrus, who plays the actress' and singer's father on Hannah Montana, was the one who filed the divorce papers earlier this week, citing irreconcilable differences."

Miley Cyrus told TV Guide magazine in a video interview shot prior to the filing: "Our relationship has changed like every dad and daughter but we haven't separated. We haven't distanced outselves. We have even gotten closer. I don't have anything to hide, I'm with him every day and he trusts me more than I think most dads trust their daughters."

Miley Cyrus, who turns 18 on November 23, has said she has outgrown Hannah Montana and also caused some controversy earlier this year when she showcased a more mature image in performances and music videos, which marked a sharp contrast to her "good-girl" persona seen on the show. The actress and singer acknowledges she has changed since she began filming Hannah Montana.

"I've definitely changed a lot," Miley Cyrus said. "Who you are and what you know and what you understand and what you feel is completely different."

"I have one Hannah Montana outfit that I've kept," she added. "If I ever have a girl one day I want her to be able to dress up as Hannah Montana one day and know what it feels like. I think I'll probably end up saving one of the wigs."

Cyrus, who began her acting career when she was eight, is focusing her attention on the big screen. She stars in the 2011 film LOL: Laughing Out Loud with Demi Moore and plays a girl who deals with high school romances and friendships as well as overbearing parents. Lionsgate recently acquired the U.S. distribution rights to the film.

Laura Prepon to guest star on 'Castle' as 'Nikki Heat' actress

Laura Prepon
of That '70s Show is set to guest star on the ABC mystery series Castle as Natalie Gray, an actress who will play fictional heroine Nikki Heat in a film adaptation of protagonist Richard Castle's crime novels that will be depicted on the show.

Castle, played by Nathan Fillion, based his character Heat on Kate Beckett, a New York detective played by Stana Katic. The two have worked together to solve crimes since he initially asked to shadow her for research purposes.

Prepon, 30, is set to appear in a Castle episode in early 2011, an ABC spokesperson said. Her character, Gray, will travel to New York and shadow Castle and Beckett during a case, which revolves around the murder of a millionaire matchmaker.

Castle is currently on its third season.

Prepon shot to fame playing red-headed Donna on the sitcom That '70s show, which also launched the careers of Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis. The series ran from 1998 to 2006. Prepon has since guest starred on House, M.D., How I Met Your Mother and In Plain Sight.

Hilary Duff stays young with first novel

NEW YORK – Hilary Duff may be a recently married young woman of 23, but when it comes to books she's not quite ready to grow up.

"I love reading young adult books even though I'm a little older than the set demographic for YA," she said Tuesday. "I love adventure. I relate to girl characters, love, finding yourself and breaking out of the mold that people put you in."

It makes sense then that the actress and singer would decide to write her first novel "Elixir" for the younger set.

Duff may have a feel for her reading audience, too, from knowing her viewing audience. Duff played Lizzie MacGuire for two seasons on the Disney Channel from 2001-2004. Fans who watched her on TV may also want to check out her book.

"Elixir" is about a young photojournalist named Clea Raymond whose photos have extra images in them that weren't there originally. Then her father disappears. Clea sets off to unravel the mystery of both.

"This idea just kept coming to me and building in my head. I thought 'What am I gonna do with this? Am I gonna write a script or pitch the idea? Have someone else write it?' And then I thought 'I'm open for a new challenge. I'm going to try to write a book.'"

Duff has had a busy year. Besides writing, she also wed pro hockey player Mike Comrie in August.

She says publishing deadlines can be more stressful than planning a wedding.

"It's very similar ... They (publishers at Simon & Schuster Children's) were very good to me during the writing process and very lenient with dates and stuff until the very end. Then it got hectic. I was planning the wedding, and there's deadlines with that, too, like getting the location and getting your dress at a certain time ... I tend to do everything at the last minute ... I couldn't even choose which one is harder. I guess I'd say the book."

Duff plans "Elixir" to be the first in a series of novels. She will begin its sequel in a few weeks.

"That's one thing I learned during the writing process. So much changes. You have an idea in your head and then more ideas come with that idea and then your premise can kind of change."

Jennifer Lopez to Launch New Fragrance, Love and Glamour

Jennifer Lopez announced today that she will be launching a new fragrance in October. Called Love and Glamour, this latest scent is inspired by her own return to life on the A-list. Lopez pioneered the celebrity fragrance category back in 2002 and her other 16 fragrances have taken in a whopping $1 billion over the course of 16 launches. Not too bad for a girl from the block.

But how does Lopez feel about the other celebs who have jumped on the celebrity fragrance band wagon? “More power to them,” Lopez tells WWD. “I am very competitive, but I don’t look at it [as a competition.] I’ve always thought that authenticity, at the end of the day, wins, and the cream always rises to the top. I really don’t worry about other people, because I’m in competition with myself.”

Lopez, who is set to renew her vows with husband of six years, Marc Anthony this Saturday, also says that the creation of Love and Glamour was an “exacting process.” “I drive [Coty] a little bit crazy,” she said. “Because it’s always not signature enough. I go back and say things like, ‘Can we push the sandalwood a little bit more, can we make it a tiny bit more sexy?’ To translate that into actual chemistry is a difficult thing. Then they go back and say, ‘What does she mean by sexy?’ she explains to WWD.

But how did she come up with the concept? “What I always like to do is look at where I am in my life at the moment. [Here] it was right after the babies and was when I was getting back to work and getting back to what I do again. It just felt like a time of a lot of love and that seemed very romantic to me — I said it seems like love and glamour. As a name, Love and Glamour seemed like a really aspirational, fun and beautiful thing that we could work with in many, many ways.”

If your tastes in fragrance leans toward notes of Italian mandarin, guava and nectarine pulp, or if you’re a fan of, coconut orchid, you’re going to delight in Love and Glamour. But, will you buy yet another fragrance from Jennifer Lopez? Or have you had enough?
